FOOD SAFETY


Nnaemeka Ike came to work for Index Fresh as our Food Safety Coordinator in January of 2012.  In that role, he has been responsible for working with Index’s manufacturing staff to implement and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices. He has also worked directly with avocado growers to introduce Good Agricultural Practices in avocado groves serviced by Index Fresh. His work has been instrumental in improving Index’s food safety standards, allowing Index to maintain strong scores on third party audits of both Index’s manufacturing facility and our grower’s avocado orchards.

Food Safety is a top priority at Index Fresh. We have developed and implemented both a comprehensive Food Safety and HAACP Program.

Our Food Safety Program is continuously monitored and updated according to new industry developments and recommendations. Features of our Food Safety Program include managing general sanitation practices, employee hygiene practices, facility and equipment cleaning practices, food safety training, pest control, inspection of shipping vehicles, food safety documentation and traceback procedures.

We consider food safety to be the responsibility of all employees at Index Fresh. Food safety meetings are held on a regular basis and ongoing training is provided. Self-audits are regularly performed within our facilities to determine the efficacy of the program. In addition, independent audits are conducted each year by third-party testing labs to verify compliance with food safety requirements.

We also ensure that our suppliers comply with all food safety regulations. Our Chilean and Mexican suppliers have conducted annual PrimusLabs.com facility audits and received superior ratings.
